City Tax
General Guidelines – Berlin’s Accommodation Tax
Since April 1, 2024, there has been a change regarding the City Tax. From April 1, 2024, professional and business-related overnight stays will no longer be exempt from the City Tax as before. Private and business travelers are now obliged to pay the overnight tax of 5% of the net room rate as decided by the Berlin Senate.
Private travelers have already been paying an overnight tax in Berlin since 1 January 2014. The law was passed by the Berlin Senate in December 2013. As a hotel, we have no influence on these additional costs and are beholden to the Berlin Senate.
