Shared Appartements for Estrel Staff
Experience shows that anyone who moves to Berlin for a job and is looking for an apartment has to bring along a lot of time and strong nerves. As an employer, Estrel Berlin is going on the offensive: In order to relieve new employees of the time pressure when looking for an apartment, Europe's largest hotel, congress & entertainment center has set up an employee shared apartment.
For Estrel HR Manager Lara von Plettenberg, the offer is an important plus point for employee recruitment: "Given the size of our company, we are constantly on the lookout for new colleagues - even from abroad. In the past, however, potential new employees have had to turn us down because they couldn't find affordable accommodation. With our Estrel shared apartment just 100 meters from the workplace, we want to make it easier for young employees in particular to get started."
The newly renovated apartment offers 200 square meters of space for seven furnished rooms (including one apartment with separate living room and bedroom) and two bathrooms. As in any shared apartment, the fully equipped kitchen/living room is the communicative center; here, employees can sit together after work. This is intended to strengthen the relationship between the employees: When a colleague becomes a neighbor, this creates a friendly relationship and thus a better working atmosphere. When it came to the furnishings, great importance was attached to modern and comfortable design - after all, the tenants should feel at home.
The rents range from 250 to 400 euros - including all costs such as WLAN. The contracts are for six months and are automatically extended for another two months.
However, the shared apartment is only one building block for strengthening employee loyalty at Estrel. In addition to the Hotel & Restaurant Schloss Britz, which is run by Estrel trainees, the Estrel also offers a comprehensive range of training programs, regular after-work and team events, health and sports courses, benefits for restaurants, theaters, hotels and public transport and a company pension plan.
Other recently implemented measures for the 550 Estrel employees: the modern changing rooms and the employee restaurant in a new design including a front cooking station. All measures are in harmony with the corporate values.
