World star loses lawsuit against doppelganger

The Regional High Court of Cologne dismissed a lawsuit by Tina Turner against a promotional poster for the "Stars in Concert" show "Simply The Best" on December 17th. One could think that Turner was participating in the show herself, but that is not the case.

Coco Fletcher as Tina Turner

The show traces the life and career of Tina Turner, who is by played by Dorothea "Coco" Fletcher. Fletcher has been part of the cast of the live show "Stars in Concert" since 1997 performing not only as Tina Turner, but also as Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. In 2017, Fletcher celebrated the world premiere of "Simply The Best", a "Stars in Concert" production. In its initial decision in January 2020, the regional court ruled that the image of Coco Fletcher as Tina Turner used to promote the "Simply The Best" show could lead one to believe that the 81-year-old Tina Turner would be appearing in person. The attorneys of the tour operator COFO Entertainment did not share this opinion and thus appealed the decision. The initial ruling was then overturned with the Regional High Court stating that one does not assume from the image that Tina Turner would be in the show herself.

In cooperation with COFO Entertainment, the "Stars in Concert" productions "ELVIS - Das Musical", "All you need is love!", "Thank you for the music" and "Simply The Best" have been touring successfully for several years . "Simply The Best" can be seen again in the Estrel Show Theater in 2021 and will also go on tour in Germany and Austria, taking the celebrated hit show to over 70 cities.
